Thanks for the idea Steve but unless the ability to add the region code is 
written in to the software on the CD writer I can't see it being that. And 
if that is the case it means companies like you and I can't send 
promotional videos around to overseas customers!!

In fact UK and NZ don't share the same region. UK is region 2 and 
Australia/NZ are region 4 - so despite the fact that DVDs are way cheaper 
out there we couldn't buy any to bring home as we don't have a multi-region 
DVD player. But I am hoping Santa might bring one this Christmas.

It might be the "regions" thing.  I.E., the way a US notebook might not play
a DVD from Asia or South America because of the different region code.  I
know my eMachine won't.  Perhaps the region code for NZ was put on the CD
when your son wrote it.  I would imagine that NZ and GB share the same
region code for linguistic, historic, and trade reasons.
