Kathy, I don't understand what you mean here. Many web hosts will register
names for you, providing they are then pointed to their servers. What is
different about inet.net? This page is just a whois function - so what? The
host I often use, simplenet.com, has this same function on their homepage.
I just concluded an almost 8 week struggle with InterNic to get them to
complete a simple domain name transfer from one host to another. I set up a
new web account with best.com. 3 times Best requested the transfer using
their web form, 3 times InterNic sent me the usual email asking for
acknowledgement as the admin and billing contact, 3 times I replied and got
their usual auto-response indicating they received my ack email.
Finally, last Monday I made the request myself using the InterNic web form,
and 4 days later the transfer was done. But it took 8 weeks. I had
foolishly cancelled the web account with the old host when I made the first
request, leaving it open for 4 weeks. Before this has taken a matter of
days. But after 4 weeks the name transfer still wasn't done, and the site
went down. My mistake, I should not have cancelled the old web account
until after the transfer was completed. But who could imagine it would take
8 weeks?
And the phone numbers and fax number I had for InterNic didn't work, all I
could do was email them over and over again. Incredibly frustrating.
