at 11:16, i have 21 messages. with very significant delays between "send"
and "receive back" times (hours). i do not think this is related to larger
network issues, as i'm on a list sent from GA and it has 1-3 minute
roundtrip times.

i concur - which is one reason i set up the onelist.com temporary list.
one of the advantages of it as a permanent list is the archiving of messages.
another is it provides digests.
