Okay, once again BBEdit has baffled me. When I got v4.0 last year, I
couldn't figure out how to maintain the "soft wrap" setting. Finally, some
kind person on this list told me, perhaps it was Kathy.
Now I've upgraded to v5.0, installing it in a separate directory than v4.0.
I can't get the soft wrap setting to apply to existing html files that I've
already created in v4.0.
In 5.0, I went into Edit/Preferences/Editor and made sure that "Soft Wrap
Text" was checked and also checked "Wrap to Window Width".
But whenever I open an existing file, it does not wrap to the window width
It doesn't wrap at all. In the window status bar I also select "Soft Wrap
Text" from the window options pop-up menu (as the manual calls it) and then
the file does soft wrap. Just to be safe, I go to save the file, but the
"Save" function on the "File" menu is grayed out. So obviously, BBEdit
doesn't think I've made any change to the file.
If I close the file, then open it up again, it doesn't soft wrap. Arrgh.
Why is this so difficult?
Of course, if I create a new file in BBEdit v5.0 that is soft wrapped, save
it, and then open it again in v5.0, it is soft wrapped. But I want all my
existing files (which are soft wrapped in v4.0) to open as soft wrapped in
5.0. How?
