My internet connection and phones have been down for 24 hours -- grrr.
Stupid Caltrans drilled through 500 pair PacBell phone cables. Oh, well, it
could have been worse -- I heard that in Iowa at one point a town of 50,000
was without phones for 1 month because of a similar accident. Supposedly
all repairs here will be finished 48 hours after the initial problem was
reported, so that's a much better record.

On to the topic at hand...it's perfectly fine to be scared about writing a
book. I'm scared just to edit the dang things! But as a very wise author
once said, if you write one page per day, that's 365 pages in a year. And
that's enough for a good-sized book. And writing one page isn't quite as
scary as writing a whole book, is it? So, instead of looking at the whole
book and getting scared, think of it in smaller chunks. Does writing one
topic scare you? If not, then just keep writing one topic after another
until you get the whole thing done.

I'll send you the names of the editors separately (since they may not want
me broadcasting their names to the whole list). Before you contact them,
you may want to read up on how to write an outline or pitch a book. There's
a lot of good info on the web about writing. I'm the special interest group
leader for the "Writing For Multimedia" SIG for our WebGrrls chapter, so
I'm always searching out good books and sites and will gladly share my
lists of suggested ones with anyone on WC who's interested.

pages or in other spots!)
