OK, I think that's quite normal.

Also this one is quite normal.
I think one of the feature could be important is how many
categories/subcategories the program offers to help you to be
inserted in index like Yahoo.

If I have understood right they it prepare a "frame" (not the HTML
meaning) of a page including title, description and keywords META.
Many tools offer this feature but the results aren't satisfactory at all.

Mumble!!! What do you mean by "how they will be spidered".
There are spiders that follof your link and visiting your entire site
and there are search engine that want you to submit evry single
page.
If evry page is linked to some other page (this is quite natural
anyway) what else can you improve?

Report?? About what?

Yes, I was planning to do my personal (web based or C++)
application to do this. At the moment I use a primitive JavaScript
page jus to help me.

> you can also enter a url and tell it to find it at a search engine.

OK

> I like this sort of program much better than using a website.

The only reason I bought an automatic submitter was the number
of search engine/index/link list it reaches. But I've tryed very good
free subbmission web based tools. (one of them was broadcast,
based in UK) i've submitted the url in a previous email. But It
appear not to be free anymore (It sended reports by email)

> But a website can really backup a product like this.

I think a well done web site can be better than any PC based
application.

Now I can play with ASP on my site so I'm going to program some
nice thing.
What I would like to do is sending text file through FTP containing
evry single page of a site. I dont want to spend to much of my time
to program a micro spider. To obtain such a list it'll be enough to
type at the dos prompt dir >list.txt. Than do some cut and paste or
do it automatically.
Then an ASP application will submit the entire list of my pages to
the major search engine.
I would like to do an ASP that will examine search engine result
and tel me how a page is ranked. But I'm waiting a good idea since
I'm a little bit lazy and I dont want to write hundreds of lines if I can
write less.

Returning back to the main topic. What I think an automatic
submitter should look like.
I think the main feature is a lot of search engines/link list etc...
While I think Javilk as good reason to say you have to choose your
potential costumers, big number just help to have costumers.
Some search engine rank you on link popularity, some of the link
list you can reach are very humble HTML and can rapresent a good
source of "link".
Depending on what you're selling, reaching some strange place
around the world could give you unespected results (contact from
asia, east europe, latino america etc...)
Second Important feature: they should be quick. Well when such a
tools support 1000 lists/search engine it must be quick.
Third: since some sites require additional information to categorize
your pages it should have the right place to put the right
information.
One important fature is how many categories it offers.
Last feature: it should be easily menagable. List of profiles, list of
pending submission. I think that when you play with BIG number
report are optional. If you'll have to take care of what happened to
just 200 submission... well just chose where you want to invest
your time.

I'm using submit Wolf Pro, you can find it at tucows. Dont ask me
to test other SW I'm completely satisfied with this program it's not
sopisticated but it's cheap, lot of search engine, fast, easy to
manage.
It lacks in precise categorization of your site and it doesn't offer a
report of your current position on search engin for
keywords/phrases.

I've found an acceptable system to know how my sites are ranked
and as I said I'm planning a better solution.
