yeah. there's a few good ones:
KarKare
Not only records mileage at fillup and computes prices, but reminds you
when you're due for scheduled maintenance and keeps track of maintenance
log (perfect for that new bike :)
http://www.geocities.com/ResearchTriangle/6608
I also hear TRIP is good for simple recording of mileage and trip logs
for expense purposes, but don't have a URL.
I don't get heavy into that yet (since car is still in Iowa until this
weekend), and find the expense function works nicely.
Might also want to look into Daily Money, a per diem expense tracker
that I hear also tracks car expenses for work-related themes
(http://198.70.114.128/stinger/stingersoft.html). I've latched onto
Qmate, which allows me to copy my expense categories out of Quicken and
record everything from ATM withdrawals to expenses on the fly and it
kindly does about everything but physical reconciling with bank records
for me when I sync (http://www.wco.com/~sdakin/qmate/userguide.html)
Found a good HTML tag shortcut set yet? Seems like a good use for
shortcuts to have tags and blank parameters keyed to hot strokes for
fast mock-ups.
Oh, few other handy ones for web design types:
Brainforest (http://www.aportis.com)
This is an outlining program, but I found it works very nicely for
initial site mapping - just convert menu selections into topical
headings. Since this kind of stuff never comes to me at first when I'm
actually at my desk, I find this a great conceptual aid when first
approaching a design structure (when lying in bed staring at ceiling,
stuck in traffic on metro, sitting at zoo watching the sea lions . . .).
The Lending Library (http://www.macduff.net)
Hundreds of classic books in Aportisdoc format. (can't work all the
time!)
HTML Reference (http://www.concentric.net/~Polaris8/htmlref.shtml)
Glossary, directory of tags, etc.
My Little Buddy (http://www.precise-solutions.cix.co.uk)
Allows you to keep track of various configurations so you can cut down
on management time when you swap purposes at the HotSync
Anyway, don't intend to turn this list into a PalmIII oracle, but
thought since i was firing these off to Kathy I'd send to list in slight
expansion of main thread. The O'Reilly palmpilot book as a CD-Rom full
of this stuff in the back, and an Appendix full of other programs as
well.
One last thing those in the PIM for webmaster/developer consideration
phase might want to consider--there's also programs for managing
time-based billing (right down to the minutes on the phone, and the
PalmIII runs the stopwatch for you as well), and full database
applications (so if you can't find the billing/tracking program you
want, design one on the PC and upload it).
Next week, I try answering list mail on the train on the way to work.
*chuckle*
Brett
