Jack, 

Since you're changing your battery so often I can't imagine it's the one
soldered to the motherboard. You must be using the external socket for it,
right? That's the four-pronged one. 

Check your motherboard connections, the little screws that hold it down in
the case. Those are the ones I've seen most often cause problems when they
touch certain spots on the motherboard and ground it out.  

Also reseat the BIOS chip. There may be dust in there (yes, right from the
factory) that is causing a slow drain.
