I, for one, would like to see the archive itself be less public over the
long term.  It's starting to result in larger amounts of spam as spiders
find it and suck our email addresses from it (at least, there are
certain topics I have only posted anything to net on via this list that
I now get targetted email about . . .).

I would favor a protected digest and a filtered public summary, but
can't realistically offer time to help make that happen.
