The support is as good for both groups (Linux / FreeBSD).

Linux might have more "commercial" software available for it
however the nessesary tools for a WebSErver are free (Apache for
HTTP, Washington University FTPd for FTP, qMail for a mail
transfer agent, PPP, and more).  There are even daemons for
handling a UPS too).
