*chuckle* Might as well have said "sorry, we use MSHTML . . . the stuff
looks really good in IE when we check it here, what are you complaining
about?" ;)

Typical case of customer service not being properly trained to give web

*giggle* Revenue Management? That the new term for accounting? Sounds
like they have too many specifically coded partnership deals with credit
cards and hotels, and this is probably the first time anyone has
actually seem the cumulative effects :)

There's no reason they need this for a quote outside of marketing. They
can quote you a price and not be held to it if they explicitly say 'hey,
this is an unofficial quote . .. if you want to hold us to it, finish
filling out the form." Rental car companies sell your name to dozens of
places, and they advertise for dozens. Those email addresses are
probably a commmodity to them.
As an aside, I used the Avis system recently and it worked great. Quick
reservation, email confirmation and when I got to the desk the
reservation was on the system and she knew what the email printouts were
and how to find the numbers she needed on them. Was impressed.
Was even more impressed to learn a full-size car is only $2 a day more
than a shoebox. :P Love how the web gives us the power to shoot holes
in the silly myths about airlines and rentals--now that we can play with
the systems, we find how they work and can manipulate them :)
Brett (who just saved $400 on a flight by, out of curiousity, seeing
what happened if he booked one leg of it a mere hour earlier . . . oh,
here's another tip on that front--found out this week United now gives
you a $25 gift certificate just for volunteering to be bumped. You run
the risk of actually getting bumped, but I was able to volunteer on all
four legs of a recent RT, never got bumped, and came home with $100 in
certificates (same I would have received if actually bumped). One or
two more business trips like that and winter vacation is free *grin*
have no idea if this is a short term thing or not . . . might want to
ask in advance.)
