I picked up a book -- The Deadline: A novel about project management --
from amazon.com. I have no memory of why I chose this book (did someone
recommend it -- did it show up in that "others have purchased" list?).

Anyway -- it's very well written -- pokes a stick at "scientific
management" (ie GANT charts) and emphasizes "soft skills" necessary for
productivity/success/etc.

Not a lot of "new" here for anyone who believes manager's job is to run
interference for productive employees .... but very entertaining read
nonetheless.
