Huh... can't remember if you've had a look at this, but I do use double-
barrelled rollovers on my new(ish) Almonte splash page:

Nothing too earthshaking happening there, though I do get some 
enthusiastic e-mail about it from time to time.  People seem to like the 
effect of text appearing "over top" of an image on the lower part of the 
screen... I guess it's a fairly nice gadget.

I still find this page too slow-loading (pre-caching of the rollover images 
hold things up), but it's getting there.
