You have a workbench in your place outside the District of Columbia? And no
garage? Boy, you're hardcore!

Interesting -- wonder how many units sold w/vacuum tubes (ie what does
installed base volume look like compared to Mac installed base w/that old
part).
Which gives rise to a MacAnecdote (tm) that reinforces all those negative
stereotypes about Mac people.
<MacAnecdote>
Following Brett's lead, I shopped Onsale.Com and got a 9.1 G, IBM UltraWide
drive for my mac. way fast. way cheap. But it's "UltraWide" and my Mac is
"plain Ultra" --- so I need an adapter, right?
I stop in the big Apple Store in the University District of Seattle. Wander
in, find a salesperson and explain that I have a new UltraWide SCSI HD and
need an adapter to the Mac's Ultra SCSI ribbon cable.
The guy is clueless. "Talk to the HD manufacturer, LaCie ..." I interrupt,
"It's an IBM."
He replies (GAG), "This is an All Mac shop. We don't sell IBM."
To which I retort, "I'm putting the IBM drive INTO my Macintosh" (voice
inflection says "you idiot").
I start to walk out, turn around and go to the tech desk. I ask "Is there
anyone here who is remotely technical." Answer: "No. What do you need?"
I repeat my problem. "I can give you the phone number for Redmond Cable, I'm
sure they can build one for you." <!> I reply, "I don't need a custom
adapter!"
Grrr. I found it at CompUSA - I find it has a name "SCSI II to SCSI III
Adapter" and it's EXPENSIVE AS HELL. $40+.
