Hello,

Somehow I was able to get my 2 cents in during the chaotic
development of a website and the powers that be (ptb) accepted my
idea of the mailing list.

I set it up as moderated with an " open+confirm" subscribe policy;
which means that only approved emails are sent to the list and you
must send 2 emails to subscribe.

The powers were a little upset about majordomo's message to confirm
the request to subscribe. I assuaged their fears a little by
allowing them to modify the message but they are still not happy. And
my boss has wondered why we don't do it like some other places that
he has seen. You know, like those places where you just subscribe
and, wow, isn't that great because that's all you have to do. He
showed me such a site. I went and subscribed him to a whole bunch of
stuff and then he had to figure out how to unsubscribe.

What is the policy on this? Am I being too cautious? I think not.

Peter
