Schlemiel actually was quite popular in the old Laverne & Shirley

Schlepped means hauled your ass around Maine. Dragged and you
may not be happy about it. Or dragged and you are bragging. "My
wife had me schlepping around the shopping mall" or "I had to
schlep 10 miles in the now to get that present for you."
In NYC there are a lot of phrases like this that have crept into
the everyday language and are not necessarily ethnic.
