Cross your fingers...last I heard (after the AOL/NS/Sun deal was announced)
Steve Case said he was going to renew the contract with MS to use IE after
Jan 1, 1999. Guess there's still time for him to change his mind...I don't
think there was any ink on the paper.
IE makes it easy for developers to integrate the browser into their software
(although they must have done extra work to f*#k it up so it would suck in
AOL - it's clearly not the same code as any IE I've seen). That's why
Quicken, Allaire and others have used it instead of NS. I *have* heard,
though, that there is a new browser rendering engine in the works for the
next release of NS, which may even the playing field as far as having a
"snap-on" browser component. Maybe that'll show up in AOL in the future?
