Every netiquette standard I've ever read stipulates no many than 4.

Personally, I ignore any signature that I think is excessively long,
and I ignore most of them most of the time anyway.  I've followed up
to messages here and elsewhere without even noticing (or caring)
who I was responding to.  After all, I'm responding to the words,
not to the person -- none of whom I know -- so my focus is on dealing
with what's been said and not on worrying about who's behind it.
