To the end-user they are basically the same (although listserv has
a slightly more obtuse subscribe procedure). The real feature of 
all list servers is what's under the hood for the list admin. Features
vary and products leap-frog each other with each new release (some
faster than others). Listserv has more of a history, and (IMHO) 
carries with it more baggage to stay backward compatible.

If price/performance is a factor, consider that Listserv Lite is 
free but crippled in the number of lists and subscribers it can
handle. Listserv (proper) is free of these limitations, but costs
big $$.

In contrast, Majordomo is free and unhindered, open source, and
has many "3rd-party" accessories (also free) that allow you to 
tailor your setup. I am somewhat biased tho...
