ugh.. now i know where the stereotype of white people not having any sense
of rhythm came from.
since we're completely off topic anyway, i've heard an apocryphal story
about Shatner appearing on some evening talk show, and telling about a time
when he hit a skunk on the freeway:
apparently, he was afraid it might have been someone's pet cat, so he
stopped his car and went back to see if there was any hope for the victim.
according to the story, the skunk was still alive enough to be seriously
unhappy with him, and to express its displeasure by spraying him.
as anyone who *has* been sprayed by a skunk can tell you, it's not a fun
experience. completely apart from the smell, the musk is also an
irritant.. it's like getting hit with mild (but very smelly) tear gas.
eyes burning and somewhat disoriented (skunk'll do that to you), Shatner
knew he didn't want to climb back into his car, because getting the smell
out of upholstery takes two or three applications of napalm. instead, he
pulled out his cel phone and called 911. the reported transcript of the
call is:
"911"
"hello, my name is William Shatner and, um, uh.. I STINK!"
