Yes, that was a rather bizarre chapter in the history of mass 
entertainment, to say the least.

Canadians are generally proud of how well so many of our compatriots do 
on the international stage -- Celine Dion, Shania Twayne, Jim Carrey, 
Michael J. Fox, Alanis Morisette, Mike Myers and many others -- but there 
are some we're a little ambivalent about.  Shatner is high on that list.  
Especially in light of the Mr Tambourine fiasco <g>

Also Pamela Anderson, or Lee-Anderson, or whatever her name is.  Serious 
flake, that girl...
