Join the club! This is my experience as well -- just hit with it AGAIN last week -- 
"have you built a site that takes Credit Cards" ... "no, but I've worked with firewall 
security and the skills and issues are similar. <wrong answer>

"we're looking for a technical editor" -- I write HTML, tweak Perl and JavaScript, am 
conversant with wintel, Mac and UNIX, write Cold Fusion apps [and do motorcycle 
maintenance <g>] .... and have a journalism degree. "We want someone with more 
technical experience."
