Thaks for all the great leads and info.
Talked to the other computer user, Wife. And for right now we are going to
keep the other system Windows (I will dual boot linux instead) and we are
going to run a network using the electrical system in the house.
February's PC Computing has a good article on "simple" networks and one of
them was www.intelogis.com where it uses the house wiring and an adapter
that plugs into parallel port and connects 2 or more PCs and a printer.
Though only 1Mps, it will be more than fast enough for our needs.
