I dropped a few thoughts to the people at Intel a few days back on the
PIII processor ID (they had no direct email, so I went through the poor
webmaster . . . they do get credit for getting it circulated
nonetheless).
Thought the group might be interested in their answer. I think they're
a little optimistic that it'll still be there, especially given the
State of Arizona's actions today moving to ban production of the chip
within the state (which is where two of Intel's largest facilities
reside). I find it interesting too that this is not what the media
reported their response was . . . but maybe they're just out of sync
internally on the PR front.
