Hi, Des:

There are several CF users on the list. It is a much more "rapid development"
environment than ASP -- do you already know VB Script?

Of course, CF Application Servers costs about $1K.

But you can run CF with *any* web server. [The web server could even be on a UNIX box.
So could the database, although neither seem to be important to your client *at this
time*]. ASP wants MSIIS.

So CF -- faster development, increased flexibility, scalable.

ASP -- "free" stuff that takes a long time for the developer to learn.

Both are used here -- but the first round of evaulations by an independent team picked
CF over ASP. Of course, there still is no company policy.

It seems to me (is there any documentation on this?) that web sites which use ASP
**seem** slower in their response with finished pages. I do believe there is
documentation on speed/efficiency of Apache, for example, over MSIIS.
