I have had no experience with external burners. I'm on my second
burner now. First one I had was a Yamaha CDR-SomethingOrOther. 6x Read and
4x write. It was pretty good. Came with Adaptec CD software and worked first
go. Now I'm on to a Yamaha CDR-400T (6xRead/4xWrite/2xReWrite - Running on
PC).

I have never had any troubles with the Yamaha burners. I would investigate
Some other software (given the inclination). I understand that the Toast
software is good for Mac.
