Thanks to one and all for the information you've shared in the past. I'm back at the
"well of wisdom" for help with another
mission.
I've been investing a lot of time doing some homework on this issue and would
appreciate hearing some suggestions from your
collective experiences with text drawing programs. I've been seeking a program that
would let me do what I used to be able to do in
some on the old DOS based programs such as Fontasy.
I've evaluated a lot of drawing programs and haven't found anything that combines text
manipulation features with web formats. I
would like to be able to take a vertical or horizontal text block and do color
gradients, emboss, outline, shadow and/or 3D on each
individual character. It would be a real plus to be able to edit the points of each
character individually.
Some programs I've investigated
- Paint Shop Pro - Drawing's great but text manipulation is a kludge and I can't
seem to save a gif as transparent.
- Adobe Image Ready - Similar to Paint Shop Pro but transparencies are a snap
- ULead Cool 3D - Super neato effects and best of the bunch so far - allows
individual character manipulation and an easy/clean
copy/paste/OLE to other programs.
- MS Photo PhotoDraw - Easy to do some sophisticated stuff - can't break apart
text and I deleted from consideration because it
doesn't save custom additions to the color palette so you have to reenter the colors
for each effect.
- Macromedia Fireworks - Am presently downloading
- Adobe Corel Draw8 appears to be highly recommended but they don't appear to have
any eval downloads available.
What do you think? I'll be curiously awaiting your opinions.
