My kids aged 11 and 9 have been using the internet for all of their
projects. Now both they and their teachers assume that the web will be
the main research tool. While some topics are covered better than
others, it's still better than any of the CD encyclopedias I've seen, and
far cheaper and more up to date than those volumes and volumes of books
people used to buy (or still do perhaps).
The way I see it, I spend a small fortune in computer equipment so I'd
rather see them research using it than having to buy bookcases of
encyclopedias. They still use the library for general reading of course.
