I have just heard that our ISP is offering a wireless transmission service
called Perkinet, but I have few details. Does anyone know anything about it?
Is it a good alternative to telephone dialup? We've never had good results
from the phone lines, so I'm wondering if Perkinet is a good alternative.
I'm anxious to find out more, but of course it's Sunday, so I'm hoping you
folks can fill me in. It's likely to be 18 months until the Ashland
Fiberoptic Network extends to our house, so I'm considering Perkinet as a
quick fix.

Our ISP's web site has a little bit of info, but doesn't answer all my
questions:

Does Perki net usually have usage limitations (currently we're limited to
8hrs/day on our 56k dialup)?

The web page says $29.95/month for Internet service including cable modem,
plus "basic wireless cable" rate. How much does wireless cable normally
cost? It says that they've teamed up with WanTV to provide the service. Does
this mean that we'd get both cableTV and Internet services in the package?

Do any of you have experience with Perkinet and if so, do you recommend it?
What are its shortcomings?
