Agreed! Web server statistics, esp with trajectory analysis, or even
pages per user numbers, will tell you how good your site is. Check out
the webcons page in my sig file, below.
Most people are afraid of governments and even more, international
governing bodies, keeping track of whom they are! And if you have
read anything about the cold war intrigues, with good reason!

Even better, let people select the child or the city, or something,
and keep in touch with the person or persons receiving that help; not via
some censor/sanitizer, but with the real person. Sure, lots of them will
go by the wayside; but many others will go far deeper, involving the
families for several generations. You will have people visiting those
villages, helping far more than just one person. And it is cheaper, too!

Even worse, suggests to some people that these children will be
internationalized, stylized, socialized, and robbed of their precious
individuality.

The greatest intentional aid project, as far as I read, was a simple
satellite put in orbit for the Indian Government. For about a year before
that, America beamed farm information and some entertainment to isolated
Indian villages, teaching them how to create THEIR OWN agriculturally
based wealth. That is a wealth no international corporation can control!
Remember the saying: "There is no good deed that goes unpunished."
Ask yourself why!
Wealth given to a people teaches them that they are poor and
worthless. The wealth a people create from their own efforts, teaches
them that they can do anything! And having learned that most important
lesson, they almost always go on to do many other great things For
Themselves, and contribute to the global economy on Their Own Terms, as an
Independent People.
And when you speak of famines, go back and read an old Scientific
American article (1992?-1997?) which shows that countries with a free
press and a genuine democratic government rarely have any famines. Why?
Because the people are free to know about problems before they happen, and
adjust their priorities, lives, and economies to cope with hard times.
This Can Not happen when someone controls their information, or has
pre-empted their economies for their grand international purposes.
The best one can do, is to TEACH others HOW to create their OWN
wealth, for only then will they own THEMSELVES. And only when a people
truly believe that they own themselves, will they act responsibly in their
own enlightened self interests, neither selling themselves out, nor
pricing themselves out of the world wide web of commerce.
