hate using vi, and lately I have been having bastard trouples with it with
all kinds of telnet apps .. moving cursor causes 'B's to apear instead of
moving.

Can use vi, hate it but I can use it.  I personally consider it one of the
worst.

true probably, have never been able to do a search replace in vi(le) yet in
emacs I fly through everything...
