Former versions of Cyrus authed via username w/o any domain part, i.e. specific for a particular domain and explicitly did NOT support virtual hosting, nor have any plans to do so. At least according to the docs of the day. I guess they succumbed to pressure though since current versions do support virtual domains... It just doesn't seem to work well w/current incantation of web-cyradm. In any event, when web- cyradm was in it's infancy the common work around was to use canonical rewrites to map [EMAIL PROTECTED] to a particular cyrus mailbox. Using domain prefix ensured uniqueness of cyrus mailboxes, e.g mydom0001, mydom0002, etc. such that [EMAIL PROTECTED] had a mailbox of mydom0001. > I feel like I've been learning six different things based on sixteen > different versions of documentation. Once you get it all working though it pretty much rocks;) FWIW- I never was able to get [EMAIL PROTECTED] working. I spent too much time on it as well but your efforts had given me hope that there was something I'd overlooked. But it seems you're running into same issue when trying to auth to Cyrus mailbox.... > I'm about to throw up my hands and give up on trying to knit this mess > together and just fall back to sasldb. You can still use auxprop but in my experience I need to either: 1) domain as prefix, e.g. username=mydom0001 thru mydom9999 Advantage-- shorter usernames Disadvantage- difficult for end users to remember their usernames. 2) username-user.mydom.tld Advantage: easier for end users to remember their usernames. Disadvantage- They'll still confuse the "dot" in their username w/their email address. Longer username to remember/type. It's kind of a six of one, half dozen of the other wh/is better. Lately I've favored #2. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. I'm hoping someone else does though;-) -- Best regards, Ken Gunderson Q: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. A: Why is putting a reply at the top of the message frowned upon? _______________________________________________ This mailing list is hosted and supported by bit-heads GmbH | http://www.bit-heads.ch _______________________________________________ Web-cyradm mailing list [email protected] http://www.web-cyradm.org/mailman/listinfo/web-cyradm
