Huh? What makes you think this? There are plenty of packages in the standard library. It obviously needs to be free from dependencies on things that aren't in the standard library. But I don't see the need to remove the package structure. (The only cleanup I'd like to see is to remove the strange occurrences of *many* consecutive blank lines here and there.
