you can also run rsync w/ the "dry run" option (-n) to see what files rsync are different...
... and I've just been reminded that there's also http://www.midnight-commander.org/ which does some sort of directory comparisons (although I haven't tried); I suppose there's also (then) filezilla which could be used this way.... ... I still like beyondcompare. though....
