np - for rsync, diff, tar, and all those nifty, useful command lines (as well as being able to do basic shell scripting stuff) you might consider taking the step of grabbing cygwin - I don't know how I could have gotten anything done on windows without it; the full install is huge, but if you have the space it's easier than trying to pick / choose. But it is easy enough (with the network installer) to just grab shell and utilities, and add things as you need commands that are missing.
