I haven't used GWT-Ext myself. It's not a native GWT library, meaning it's not written in Java; it's just a thin Java wrapper around Javascript and CSS, etc. That makes it a little less attractive. Plus the Ext license is not free for commercal development I think.
There is an Ext-GWT and a gwt-ext (completely different projects). The first one requires a license and the second one is LPGL (+ modules with Apache and BSD license).
