Thanks Ramsey

this helps a lot - I think I had forgotten that maybe I used to be always 
pressing the "update" of the d2w file to get rules to stick and I might have 
had something funky with the build.

I thought I'd try this "bundleless build" which I'd not heard of and went to 
the wiki:

Ok, when I try to open my rules in "External" -- nothing happens, so I've been 
editing inline using whatever editor shows up in the edit window and I don't 
have access to preferences?

Is there a Rule Modeler app that I should be using?
