Sure it is. People can grab the ISO's and drop them onto their personal websites and allow direct downloads. What will happen? Nothing. A Sun landshark will issue a letter to cease and desist and then they have to move onto the next download site as well as the torrent feeds and who knows how many letters they have to write. At least the ISO's get to people and no blood lost. Sometimes we need blatent defiance. > The Solaris Express releases (both Developer and > Community) are available under a license that does not allow > re-distribution. Therefore, we can not post on opensolaris.org. Then that license needs to be "fixed" or we need to figure out if OpenSolaris is inside Sun or not. If "not" then why is the "Community" release of Solaris Express inside Sun only and not allowed to be distributed by OpenSolaris.org ? If "yes" then that "Community" release should be on the "Community" site at OpenSolaris.org and we are done with it. Either way .. this whole scenario stinks of lawyers and trademark disputes. In my head I feel like the junior officer in a front line trench being told on the radio headset that "no, you can not have any more ammunition because you failed to submit a J5 slash 216 form to the supply officer in advance of enemy engagement along with a B5 stroke 26-J form that allows the ammunition to be loaded in the weapon before firing and then you need a 76-11-RT4 form approved by the battalion command post to pull the trigger". You may as well stand up and wave a white flag and then fall over dead because the other guy just shoots for center of mass without hesitation or questions asked. Or haven't you noticed the market share? Dennis Clarke Blastwave.org _______________________________________________ website-discuss mailing list [email protected]
