For the time being I have a linode I can setup as a build machine. It's a
virtualized instance but very high performing. I can get it going with
Ubuntu 12.04 and get started setting up a build for android if so desired

thanks for tracking that, and sorry that nothing has be done here yet.

Unfortunately, I'm still swamped. While making good progress, there are
still some bits and pieces to be done. So, what I can do is try to setup a
VM next week (I won't manage this week).

However, please be advised that there are some limitations. The VM host
machine still needs an update, which is blocked due to documentation
missing, and I assume that we have to recreate all VMs afterwards. So, there
will be no backup, and that VM can be killed anytime. Please do properly
document things and keep backups.

If you feel uncomfortable with this, and would like to have a VM that cannot
be killed while you are working on it :), I need to ask you for some more
patience until the VM host has been upgraded.

Florian
