Makes sense to me. This thread has circled back to its origins, which was whether the one directory containing supported editable conf files should be called conf.d or extra ;-) The argument then was that conf.d is standard on other distributions for this purpose; the counter argument being that it is extra now and change for the sake of change is not desirable. It seems that one additional strike now against extra is that it seems to have a stigma of containing sample files, which led to this whole thread, I think. With that background, I'm tilting towards conf.d. Any other thoughts? P.S. Since extra contains only examples from the src distro, I'd rather see it under /usr somewhere, to correctly reflect the files are static, not editable configuration. -- Jyri J.
