Greetings all -

I've just begun redeveloping a site, moving from PHP to Python and Webware.
Site traffic has justified moving from a shared machine to a dedicated box
- we use Pair.com for hosting.

All of a sudden I have options on what I can run on the box. I'm wondering
if any one else on the discussion list has experience with mod_webkit or
mod_python on Pair.com hosted machines.

As I've just begun working with the code I'm using the OneShot adapter on
my local machine for development, and I have so far been unable (and not
looked hard) to locate specific differences / benefits / drawbacks to
either adaptor.

Presumably mod_python has an advantage if I need to run any code outside of
the Webware framework - about the only think I could think of other than
light duty utilities was an xml-rpc interface, but I suspect there's no
reason to run that outside of the framework.

And I have to assume that mod_webkit is just plain faster and simpler.

Not having any experience with either, any suggestions?

PS: I am strongly tempted to move to PostgreSQL, mostly because I miss
subselects, stored procedures, triggers et al that are 'not yet' available
in MySQL. Any cries of 'don't do it' out there I might listen to, however
will also be open to testing/QA of any work done with MiddleKit and Postgres...

Thanks and regards,
Mike
