Maybe you are also interested in some tool like
HTTPUnit(http://httpunit.sourceforge.net/) that
simulates a user browsing a Web. It has utilities to
interpret the HTML server response, make assertions
and even support for embedded JavaScript. So you can
program it to test for things like:

  5 .- ...

 It works great with apps aware of HTTPUnit that
provide it with tags and "hints" to help interpret the
result but works fine with non-aware Web apps too.
 
 It's uses Java and integrates pretty well with ant. I
don't know if there is something equivalent in Python.
