It's just a press release. Expect it to be
fleshed out in the coming days/weeks/in tomorrow's call.

Subject: RE: MEDICARE ANNOUNCES PLAN TO
ACCEPT HIPAA NON-COMPLIANT ELECTRO NIC
Perhaps someone on the list can address my questions. The
release addresses inbound transactions but does not address the fact that
the vast majority (actually none) of the Medicare contractors
cannot:
a. Produce a fully compliant Part A or Part B outbound
837COB file. b. Can not or will not supply COB test files to their
trading partners.
We have existing trading partner agreements with all
Part B and 90% of the Part A contractors yet we have received test files
for less than 50% of the Part B and only four test files for the Part
A. Of the files we have received none have been compliant although
for the most part we can extract enough useable data to process our claims
for the Part B but we have not received enough test files for the Part A to
assess this. Anyone have a clue what CMS intends to do in this
situation? All I keep finding are memos addressing the inbound
claims.
Thanks!
