Ray, Whilst changing the weeWX log destination is straightforward let's not complicate things further by trying to change the log arrangements mid-stream, I am more than happy reading weeWX entries in syslog.
When you start weeWX just make a note of the time and later when you open /var/log/syslog you can go back to that time and you should see the weeWX log entries, just copy and post the syslog entries from that time onwards.
