Why update? My console dates back to 2006 and runs fine. Take a look at the Davis change logs and you'll see that the "fixes" are all very esoteric and unlikely to be encountered. https://www.davisnet.com/resources/weather-monitoring/#support (Then select Software/Firmware, then select VantagePro 2)
