Thanks for the replies.  The Sparkfun kit looks interesting and is 
available here in the UK.  My main issue is connecting it all together.  
While I am a fairly tech savvy person, I am not up for building circuit 
boards, etc.  - Are there any out-of-the-box modules for either the Arduini 
or RPi?
