I have an original Vantage Pro (VP1) with a serial to USB converter cable attached to a RPi and Weewx does not crash at time changes. To update the VP firmware for the 2007 DST rule change, Davis had to loan you a special piece of hardware to install the update, and it is indicated at VP console reboot as REV B. After you patched your firmware, you returned the device to Davis.
