I have the soil temp sensor and a gw1200 here.
I just added a [[field_map_extensions]] item to map it to a weewx db element
[GW1000]
[[field_map_extensions]]
soilTemp1 = temp9 # map driver 'temp9' to weewx 'soilTemp1'
# wh34_ch1_batt could be mapped to an available
field
# so if you want its battery status saved to
the db
