O.K.... what I want to know about this...

...is this: why don't we ever hear about this from the OTHER angle??
Meaning: why does it only become a story when a piece of finger ends
up in someone's burger or chili?

Seems to me that a partially or fully-severed digit is rather a
significant injury... so... why don't we ever hear stories like MEAT
PACKING PLANT FORCED TO DISCARD MEAT AFTER EMPLOYEE LOSES FINGER or
FRIDAY'S CLOSES AFTER COOK SEVERS PINKY or something like that?
WOuldn't that make you feel a little better than the OOPS LOOK WHAT
GOT IN THERE stories that crop up every few months?

So in other words: there are people out there who just lose parts of
their digits who either don't report it ("Oh, it's no big deal...
it's just PART OF MY THUMB!"), or they DO report it and their
employers don't think it's that big a deal. ("Oh, fingers in meat...
well, we'll have this...")

What in the hell is going ON here??

Your thoughts on this chatless day.
