I was a bridesmaid in a Bridezilla wedding.  Overall, it was the me,
me, me attitude that made the lead up to and the wedding
unbearable.  But the worst of it came 6 months after the wedding
when I called her to see if she wanted to go in on a gift for a
close friend's (who was also a bridesmaid) 30th birthday.  When I
told her how much we were all contributing she said, "I thought you
were broke."  I said, "I'm doing okay."  She said, "Then where's my
wedding present?"  I hung up.

Another time I was a bridesmaid, the mother of the bride pulled me
aside before the wedding to "suggest" that I don't drink too much at
the reception, so I can remember it.  I love that I have a drunkard
reputation with my friends' parents.

Another bridesmaid story: during the ceremony, one of the other
bridesmaid's string of pearls broke and pearls starting scattering
all over the stage.  Of course we couldn't stop ourselves from
cracking up for the rest of the ceremony.

I have been a bridesmaid 9 times, and I am so over it.  For those
who have never been a bridesmaid, it costs about $1000 once you
figure in the dress, shoes, bachelorette party, shower and gifts.
And at the end of it all, you're stuck with 5 purple dresses.

However, unlike Gene, I love big weddings.  What could be wrong with
free booze and food and dancing to cheezy music all night?
